Being quarantined during this time can really play with your mind. Being in isolation has its perks (Keeping us healthy), but it also can really take a heavy toll on our psyche. It can be difficult not spending time with people and staying busy with jobs and routines. There are a lot of very stressful people around. People have lost their jobs, businesses, and some have lost loved ones. People are also afraid of contracting COVID-19 and maybe even dying.
Being in isolation gives you time to sit in your own thoughts. Sometimes these thoughts can be good and encouraging and other times these thoughts can put a person into depression. We can get caught up in focusing on our disappointments, our failures, or just on things that didn't work as planned. We can be our worst critics. The scripture says that our hearts are desperately wicked, who can trust it? Our hearts and our flesh will deceive us. Because it is a part of our being, we seem to trust it. We really can't trust ourselves. We can't trust that we are telling ourselves the right thing. Our best efforts will take us in the wrong direction.
We need to listen to another voice. The voice of the Father. He tells us many other things about ourselves like we are more than conquerors (Rom. 8:37), and that we are royalty, chosen, and called out (1 Pet. 2:9). The scripture tells us that we should focus on things that are pure and lovely and of a good report, things that are honest and true (Phil. 4:8). The bible tells us that if we put our trust in Him, He will take care of us (Prov. 3:5), He will hide us when there is trouble and He is a present help (Ps. 46:1). It tells us that we are the head and not the tail (Deut. 28:13) and that nothing is impossible with Him (1 Cor. 10:13).
We need to believe what He says about us. We can't survive without it. It gives us strength, joy, and peace. If we keep our minds on Him, He will help us, He will lead us and He will direct us. Hang in there if you are feeling discouraged, hang in there if you feel like there is no hope, hang in there if you feel like you are at your wit's end, Hang in there. There is a God who loves you, who is here to help you and will give you peace. You were made for a purpose and it is more than you can imagine. Listen to His words, let His voice be the one that you hear.
